JOB TITTLE: NIGHT SUPERVISOR NURSE

JOB DESCRIPTION
This is a middle management position for supervisory coverage of the nursing department, other patient care areas at the hospital in general during night shift. Responsibilities require knowledge of hospital and nursing policies and procedures, allowing independent judgement in their interpretation.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Promote the mission vision and values of the organization.
2. Provide patient care requirements on every unit in the emergency department.
3. Assess the thought of care required by patient in relations to nursing ratios.
4. Develop and implement staffing plan for shift based on patient acuity, patient census and available staff.
5. Act as a resource to staff for solving clinical problems.
6. Assist staff to efficiently utilize staffing resources to meet patient care requirements and other professional responsibilities.
7. Provide for immediate follow up, documentation and communication of incidents to appropriate manager and director.
8. Respond to emergency situations and assist as necessary.
9. Act as a resource in identifying and solving administrative problems in the clinical staff.
10. Proactively anticipate actual/ Potential problems that may occur on their shifts and sets shift priorities accordingly.
11. Cooperate with the nursing and allied staff to solve problems or contact representatives of departments for assistance.
12. Provide support, guidance and feedback to staff.
13. Meet the expectations of individuals of who services are provided to.
14. Provide clinical leadership and high level of professionalism during nursing practice.
15. Maintain good communication with all the relevant staff.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Education; Higher diploma or Degree in nursing recognized by the Nursing Council of Kenya.
Professional Qualification;Updated BLS/ACL Certificate.
Membership; Current annual Nurse practice license issued by the Nursing Council of Kenya.
Job experience; Minimum of seven years experience post registration by the Nursing Council, 5 of which. are at the senior nurse or team. leader position or similar role.
